After the Kamala Harris campaign blew through a billion dollars in just twelve short weeks in a failed effort, who in their right mind would write a check to the Democrats right now? I mean, spend their own money.
I can see using those USAID dollars that used to flow in a circle, where you need to tithe back a share for the grant money allocated to you for some phony cause. It is easy to send in and see them waste OPM, “Other People’s Money”, but to send your own cold hard cash to the Democrats, only to see them just waste it by the thousands?
How stupid are those people supporting the Democrats?
We’ve shut down the slush funds, haven’t we? Through DOGE?
So how is any money flowing to the Democrats at this point?

Want to know what makes me the way I am? Want to know why I give credence to conspiracy theories? Want to know why I’ve become a cynical old man?
Building 7
Explain that one to me reasonably. Intelligently. Purposefully. I’ll calm down and listen. Until I see people start asking real questions, I trust government zero percent.

They tell me it is baseball season. And big league play is happening in cities across the country. I wouldn’t know, haven’t spent even a minute of time even thinking about it.
I did watch half hour of a women’s lacrosse game the other night, Maryland, my home state, beat Rutgers.
Baseball is in a sorry state when a man would rather watch women’s college lacrosse than tune into even one professional baseball pitch.

I’ve recently learned, or am in the process of learning, why I have become such a curmudgeon. And why the aches and pains of old age are so severe that they make me a grumpy old asshole.
They think I have some autoimmune disease, some form of arthritis, they have a fancy name for the diagnosis, but I can never get it right. I know this, every question the doctor asked me about the condition I didn’t just say “yes”, I jumped out of the little chair and said “That’s it!” on every symptom.
I’m hoping to learn more over this next few weeks after the full review of X-Rays and blood work. It’d be nice to know that I am suffering from a known ailment, and it isn’t just that I’ve succumbed to being a grumpy old fool, always lashing out at the world.
Hey, you live with these daily aches and pains so severe your eyes water at times. Frankly, I consider my attitude a rather “Sunny disposition” given the diagnosis.
When they told me two spine discs have already fused which is causing movement issues, it made me so damn happy. No wonder I don’t have any motion in the golf swing anymore. No wonder the tee shots only go 210. I’ve got not turn, my back is seizing up.
Getting an answer as to why my golf score is horrible, and I can no longer reach down and get the ball out of the cup made me want to hug the doctor.
I don’t have a final answer yet, but the wife is already sick to death of me saying, “but honey, I have a disease, it isn’t me, I am afflicted, I deserve your sympathy”.
No wonder I’m a 23 cap.

Don’t get old. Just don’t. Once you get on the doctor train, you cannot get off the schedule. One appointment leads to another, then another, then another. With tests in between. And visiting the doctor’s office has become a soul-less expedition. Nurses have no bed side manner anymore, they never even look you in the eye. Always focused on some chart. You feel like you are on a conveyor belt, a widget being processed.

On the same subject why isn’t everyone screaming about Obamacare ruining all of our healthcare. Deductibles went from $500 a person to $ 2500. You have to be “in network” to get any coverage. And doctors can’t just diagnose and act. First everything needs “approval”. From the people who pay, the insurance companies. And they deny everything. Even against the doctor and his prognosis.
I’m telling you, if you were to go on the doctor treadmill I’ve been on, hearing that you cannot proceed directly to treatment until the insurance company sends approval, and that you can’t get another treatment for so many months because “the insurance company won’t approve it”, you begin to understand why that kid shot the CEO.
The entire medical system is broken. Completely. It wasn’t always this way. It wasn’t great before Obamacare, but now the system is gone. Ruled by insurance companies. Not doctors.
Blow it all up, start over.

I can’t watch ESPN anymore. It is as if sports began in 1997. There were no quarterbacks before Brady. No basketball players before Michael Jordan. Sports didn’t exist before roughly 2000. Tiger Woods invented golf.
Bring up Johnny Unitas and they act as if you are in some newsreel from WWII, and should exist in sepia tones, with a tinny voiced announcer doing the overdub.
*
Playoff hockey might be the most exciting sport you can watch. I’ve taken to rooting for Ovi and the Caps, since they were the closest team to my hometown of Baltimore, and we didn’t have a team.
Watching them win the first two playoff games I damn near jumped off the sofa when they scored.
Who doesn’t want to see Ovi win another one. His “we not gonna fuckin’ suck no more” from the first cup win was one of the best and purest examples of absolute joy I’ve ever seen an athlete display.

Gave up alcohol to lose some weight. Not losing even a pound. Even though I began walking to get out and exercise daily. A few more weeks of treading water at this weight, I’m heading back to Ketel One Seabreezes. Just writing that sentence I want one.

I wish someone would sponsor me to travel and write. I’d love to visit Oakland and do a deep dive into what life is like there on a daily basis, living in the Oakland suburbs and trying to live a normal, middle class, suburban life. My guess is, that it is an overtaxed crap hole. But is that correct? Maybe the place gets a bad rap.

On that same subject I’ve got a book floating around in my head I wish I could find time to write. I wish I could trade homes for a month with someone from Galway in Ireland. They could have this house by the beach in Florida, I’ll live in Galway a month or two and write the book.
I know one thing, the Galway family is winning on that one, it is heaven living here, near the beach in South Florida.
I doubt the wife would go along with the short term trade. But I fantasize about a few months in the Fall in Galway, writing all day, visiting the pub in the evening. Listening to Trad music. I don’t like lamb, but I could force myself to get used to it as a weekly staple.
The world is getting robbed of a damn good novel, sad this will never happen.

The rich better loosen the purse strings, the poor are beginning to listen to the siren’s song of AOC. That is pure socialism. When an AOC is taken seriously by even a small percent of the population it is a clear indication that the rich have become too greedy and self serving.
God forbid she ever gets into national elected office.
She’d turn DC into Havana overnight.
Dear rich, stop taking it all, you might not like what happens next.

I just do not believe that Trump won Arizona in 2024 but didn’t have the coattails to carry along a Senate win as well. No way they voted Trump, and switched votes against Kari Lake. Not a chance.
Where is the national investigation into Arizona and the 2024 vote?

I love that different food trends have swept the country, and that it is now possible to get Texas Bar B Que anywhere in the US, and that there are new ethnic restaurants on every corner.
But this “hot honey” craze has gone off the rails.
A meat rich pizza from a brick oven with fresh dough is great. No need to drizzle it with hot honey sauce to be trendy. It’s a fresh made, four minute pizza. It doesn’t need some hot sauce gimmick. The sausage, pepperoni, and ham is enough.
I’m getting sick and tired of these newfangled food trends taking over menus.
I get it. In Memphis they like their chicken spicy. Doesn’t mean it has to infect my local pizza.

I might have had my first Chic Fil A chicken sandwich recently. Pregnant daughter joined us for golf, got a craving on the way home for one of their sandwiches, and driver hubby gave in and stopped. I was a passenger with no say in the matter. They insisted I try one, though I have never been to a Chic Fil A.
So I got one, we pulled away from the drive through, only to find they left off the pickles. We got the wrong order. All the sandwiches were labeled “plain”. The daughter was big time upset. She was craving those pickles.
So I’m not sure if this qualifies as having eaten a Chic Fil A sandwich. If it didn’t have the requisite pickles, does that count?
I may never know. I don’t do fast food. Ever.

Speaking of food, South Florida just got a lot better. All the tourists and snow birds have gone home. It is just us residents now. Easier to get a table in every popular restaurant, easier to get a bar seat.
Home. They went home. For over a month the car carriers were here. Now they’ve taken all the Mercedes back North, and they all flew home for Easter. Gone.
Bye snowbirds! Especially you Canucks, you idiots can’t drive worth a crap, and you do nothing but clog up restaurants here. Go North and freeze as God intends.
The best part about Easter, almost as good as Jesus rising from the dead, is seeing them all go home. No more waiting. No more being sent next door at Cap’t Charlie’s Reef Grill and waiting fifty minutes.
Isn’t life glorious? What arthritic condition?

With all 3 daughters currently pregnant and due shortly, with grandchildren # 6, # 7, and # 8, I expect that life as I’ve known is about to change. Am I supposed to want to kill the son-in-laws for doing this? I’m not sure of the protocol. One of them I just love, I couldn’t bring myself to kill him for what he has done.
We went from no grandchildren, to now 8 in total soon, it was all a blur. I’ll never remember that many birthdays. I’ll have trouble with the names.
I’m too old to get down on the floor and play blocks. Damn kids should have had these kids years ago, when I was still sprite.
Adding 3 all at once might just kill me. No, I’m sorry, we can’t babysit. This is our time. Hire the neighbor kid, doesn’t she need a hundred bucks?

So I’m reading the news and it says that Great Britain is planning to “dim the sun”, to spray some chemicals into the air to blot out sunlight to fight global warming. This received no real amplification, everyone seems to have heard this news, and shrugged.
Yet the guy who sees lines of clouds in the sky that don’t appear random, calls them “chemtrails”, that guy is labeled a crazy conspiracy theorist.
Let me get this straight. You all believe a government can seed the atmosphere to “blot out the sun” to improve climate change. But this idea a government would seed the air with chemicals from planes, that sounds insane to you. Do I have that right?
We’ve all seen the lines. From planes. Harmless? Just vapor trails? Awful lot of vapor trails up there.

So we get rid of the ridiculous and out-of-control Biden Administration who opened the border wide and cost us all over a trillion to support the illegals here. And we elected the more fiscally conscious Republicans.
Only to hear that Trump proposes a 6.5 trillion dollar annual budget against an income of roughly 4.8 trillion. So this “fiscally responsible administration is planning on almost a 2 trillion deficit?
WTF?
Our Federal government needs to start living within its means. We can’t spend more than we bring in.
And this is under the Republican Administration?
We are doomed. Done. Gone.

There is never anything good to watch on television past live sports. With nothing else to watch, “American Idol” is acceptably interesting. Except in this house we’ve aged out of the demographics so badly we don’t know any of the songs, we don’t know any of the artists, and we are never in sync with the judges on the talent evaluation.
The songs are horrible, the voices sketchy and off tune. And the people cheer for what we feel are awful performances.
Is it age, or has mediocre become the “new norm”?

I love golf, I’m obsessed with golf, despite the body not cooperating at all. But even I’m sick of hearing about Rory and The Masters. My favorite thing is being Irish, and even the fact that Rory is Irish doesn’t make me like him. There is something detestable about him. As if behind the scenes you just know he is a smug little prick.
As I’ve aged, and have gone back and watched a lot of golf interviews on Youtube, I realize that my admiration was misplaced. Arnold was by far the better man off course than Jack. Take away all the golf and Arnold was a wonderful warm human. Jack was the Rory of his day. Sorry Arnold, for all those times I rooted against you.
Hey, I paid to play Bay Hill in your honor, I didn’t go to Ohio.

Explain it to me. Harvard has some 56 billion dollars in reserve. Yet we fund Harvard research to the tune of some 9 billion a year. At the present T bill rate of roughly 5%, Harvard would have enough income, 2.9 billion, to run their entire operation absent a cent from tuition.
But we provide 9 billion for research annually. Let me ask you, when they hit on a big patent from the research, do we all share in the cash flow that follows? Because we put up the 9 billion? Or do the researchers and Harvard keep all that?
Because if Harvard and the Researchers don’t pay for the research, we do, but they get all the benefits from when the research wins big and hits on a cure, or new drug, or new advancement, it would seem to me that we fund all the work, they get whatever reward follows. Is that fair?
Pull all funding from private universities. Let Harvard use that 56 billion endowment to operate. Let them fund their own research.

Shannon Sharpe is in some trouble, and not for the first time. An “Only Fans” influencer is suing him for fifty million for “rape and other sexual offenses”. This isn’t the first time Shannon has been in trouble, or accused by women of sexual misconduct.
I hear he offered ten million to settle. But now that she won’t settle, he has decided to fight back.
Is Sharpe guilty? Oh, yeah, he definitely played some “game” with this girl of both discussing, and having “rough sex”, featuring bondage and other ridiculous proclivities.
But is there a culture that preys on athletes today, trying to create a one-night-stand that results in a lawsuit to grab some of that pro athlete cash? Absolutely.
The “Baseball Annies” have sharpened their game over the last 50 years, and target rich athletes to either sue for sexual assault after the fact, or become a “baby momma” with a lifetime annual income.
Athletes better wake up to the dangers out there. Sharpe at 59 messing around with a then 19 year old influencer, well, he is asking for trouble. And if you read the leaked text messages, Holy Good God. What kind of idiot would put in writing “I can’t wait to choke you” in a text message. That is one serious dumb ass who isn’t thinking with their brain, they’ve allowed all thought to go below the waist.
Shannon Sharpe has a great podcast, his interview with Katt Williams is a “must see”, just an incredible conversation.
But if this is the way he conducts his private life, bedding 19 year old “Only Fans” models, and texting salacious sexual details back-and-forth, the man is brain dead.
To you young readers, never, ever, ever, put into a text message to anyone something you wouldn’t want your mom to read. Save that for direct conversation. The written word is forever. Undeniably forever.
I wanted to be a Shannon Sharpe fan, watch his podcast, but what an idiot.
59 year old men should be settled down with a grandchild on their knee, not tying up 19 year old “Only Fans” prostitutes.

Someone just asked on Twitter to name something today’s youth would have trouble understanding about something difficult from “the old days”.
My answer is that today’s young never had to be in bed under the covers, with a small transistor radio, trying to listen to the game, hoping mom and dad wouldn’t come in and yell at you for not going to sleep, and having to listen to static, the game, static, another station playing some kind of salsa music, static, the game, some kind of classical music interference, static, the game, more static. For every ten seconds of game you had to endure six seconds of noise.
When the Maryland basketball team lost to NC State in the ACC Championship game it was bad enough the DC broadcasting station was hard to get in Baltimore, but laying there afterwards hating on Monty Towe and all those NC State players while crying your eyes out was really tough. Double overtime while moving a small dial to keep the game in focus under covers and nervous about the game.
What an experience.

Had Kamala Harris won, she would have kept the borders wide open just as Biden did, and would have bankrupt the nation by the end of her first term.
What we experienced under Biden was unsustainable.
People need to wake up to 36 trillion in debt and the interest cost on that.
We are nearing the end game.
Frankly, with continued Dem rule, I expect that Illinois will fall shortly. Bankrupt. Done. Incapable of continuation. Pension checks gone. No more money. Debt and pensions eating all the tax money completely. Nothing left to run government.
The game of musical chair financing can’t last forever, the music has to stop.
*
Entitlement programs are, and always have been out-of-control scams. Fifty years ago I knew vendors who would pay fifty cents on the dollar for food stamps, then put them into the bank as cash, making 100% profit on the transaction. As the original recipient turned his “food money” into actual cash for half.
Twenty years ago in New York City I walked into a bodega and there were blue 55 gallon drums everywhere on shelves. When I asked why, they said that illegals stuffed them with medicines, clothing, and food stuff, and mailed them back “home” monthly to their needy relatives. How much of that merchandise was paid by an EBT card?
The streets know what the suits in DC don’t.
We need to connect this disconnect.
We are all being ripped the fuck off big.
*
Every little New York kid in a coonskin Daniel Boone cap just loved “the Mick”. Mickey Mantle was their hero, they idolized him no end.
Years later they learned too much about his private life of debauchery and drunken behavior, and that dimmed the image.
There is a metaphor for America in there somewhere.
And when the 1970’s came, and their eyes were open to the naked corruption of our leaders, and those in government, banking, Wall Street, and the Military Industrial Complex, what did they do?
First they disco danced in some form of self aggrandizement. How embarrassing.
Second, they decided to thieve, steal, and be so far more corrupt than anyone in history that has ever gone before, with Hillary Clinton at the front of the line.
I hate the baby boomers, I truly do. They ruined America as never before.

On the subject of football.....back in the 80's I met a man who had seen Red Grange play!! ;-0
Then when Nov. 22, 1963 happened I was a college student in Calif. living next door to an Elderly Lady who could remember when McKinley was shot!!! Guess I'm telling my age, right?! ;-)
