If the Spencer Pratt nonsense in LA didn't cause the people to take the streets, I cannot see a way out.
We saw Canadians take a stand. Those truckers were de-banked, their licenses suspended, their insurance cancelled, and some were jailed. Turned into non-entities absent a way to make a living. Rendered incapable of supporting themselves.
It really wouldn't be that hard, because after the sixth politician was hung, or ninth oligarch done away with, the rest would capitulate.
But even a sixty percent taxation and loss of all privacy the people are somnambulant.
We already rolled over.

Michael, thank you for this piece. Without honest and responsive representation, this nation is toast. Since the 1990s I have supported groups advocating for paper ballots and same day counting. Period. I think we brought in electronic voting systems from Venezuela in the 1990s. Even the liberal Democracy Now! program aired segments outlining all the vulnerabilities and "flaws" built into these systems. Electronic voting is inherently suspect. Why does it take states in the US three weeks to count their votes when third world countries can get it done in one day? Why does the US forbid independent foreign observers from evaluating US election integrity? Why, once electronic voting was established, did US corporate media no longer do exit polling, which used to be an accurate predictor of election results? Because they no longer are. Because the votes are skewed after being cast. Because of all the reasons you outline. I did a quick search for election integrity and paper ballots, and it seems that most of the first page results are astroturf, attacking "election integrity denialism." As if Trump is the problem when he is just pointing out the obvious, something that we have known for four decades. Given that the US lost its last civil war, I don't have a lot of hope. While I will continue to support what I believe to be right in small impact, peaceful actions; part of me hopes for a benign dictator, like Bukele in Nicaragua who singlehandedly zeroed out the gang inspired murder rate in his country; or Gaddafi in Libya who used oil revenue to provide free education and healthcare, raise the literacy rate from 10% to 90%, and empower broad participation of women in society. Sadly, since Gaddafi used gold to back his currency and did not play ball with the Bank of International Settlements, he had to go. There is a hidden hand that must be dealt with. Not sure how that will be done.
Paper ballots, like most of the rest of the free world, is the only real fix to the obvious corruption and scams that even a 3rd grader can see. Even third world countries utilize a paper ballot system. The “Save Act” in its present form would help but don’t count on the Republicans passing it anytime before the midterms if ever. I think I will turn on the Beatles and listen to the song “Revolution” to clear my mind…., 😳
So what do we do about it? We can’t just roll over.
