I had the opportunity to drive a portion of the east coast this week, right along the coast. Two things struck me. The first thing was that even along the coast there is still a great deal of open land, farmland, undeveloped land. In some parts of the Carolinas it seems the pine trees go on forever. There is still a lot of room in the east, though some small towns, particularly along the coast are just experiencing population booms that are incredible. Everyone wants to retire to “warmer”, and “coast”.
But the second thing that I saw, and this disturbed me, was that in the very small towns as I criss crossed various water ways, parks, and impediments to my just driving a single line along the coast, was that the primary new building in each small town was a Dollar Store, or Dollar General, sometimes both. You pass mobile homes, six at time, three at a time, it is the default housing of the truly rural community. The churches are better built and more spacious.
As beautiful as some of those areas were to drive through, the thought of Americans who have had to settle for a trailer and Dollar Store lifestyle was disturbing.
We can do better. We can.
I’ve been a capitalist my entire life, but something about the rust on one trailer in particular, juxtaposed with kids toys and bikes adjacent, my heart went out to those people, it just shouldn’t be this way. Brick churches, tin homes. That says something else disturbing.

They are playing with gas prices in an election year, bringing them down to claim some Democrat victory over inflation. Please don’t buy into it. They are at war with the fossil fuel industry. As soon as you vote “D”, the prices will begin to skyrocket again on inauguration day.

“We can’t scare them anymore”, was the message in a discussion between “Charlamagne Tha’ God” and Joy Reid over Blacks who claim to be moving to Trump. There was a definite look of disgust on Charlamagne’s face when he said something to the effect “they said they lived through Trump being President, it wasn’t all that bad for them”.
The only thing keeping the Democrats in power since 1964 is Black voters. Voting over ninety percent Democrat.
If Black people begin to move off the Democrat plantation, Good God, we could finally Make America Great Again, and that would be for people of all colors.

I got tossed from Twitter for a week or more. In the run-up to the Ravens-KC Championship game, and watching the pre-game, they showed way too much of the smug, arrogant, and rather talented Kelce from KC. As an extreme Ravens fan, and former Charter Ravens season ticket holder, I took to twitter to say that it would be nice to see someone “beat his ass” a bit during the game.
Well, the Twitter hall monitors must all be women, Tay-Tay fans, or people who just don’t understand sports and sports vernacular, as wanting to “beat an opponents ass” is standard operational procedure. It isn’t a call for an actual fight where Kelce gets his ass whipped. It is every fans way of saying “I hope he gets roughed up, pushed around, and has a tough day”. So no twitter for me, I’m banned for calling for violence against another person. The people who run twitter are morons of the highest order.
And speaking of the Championship game, alas, our vaunted Ravens Defensive Coordinator, heralded as a genius all season, allowed said Mr. Kelce to go 11 for 11 for some 120 odd yards. Now you would think that shutting down the premiere player on the opposing team would be the best idea going into a game. But this all-world Defensive genius decided to allow Kelce free rein to have a “perfect day”. For the uninitiated, or casual fan of sports, this would be like playing Michael Jordan’s team and deciding not to worry about how well he does during the game.
Every time I hear some friend, a Ravens fan, say “well, we held them to three points after those first two drives I want to “beat their ass”. Because if you allow Kelce to go 11 for 11 you aren’t winning the game. Ever. Never. Never ever.
Can you get banned from Substack for threatening to beat your friends ass?

During the previously mentioned trip along the east coast I also had the, uh, opportunity, to sample some “fast food” for the first time in years. Years and years. I never eat fast food at any time, unless you count perhaps two stops a year at a Panera.
I’m old, I just don’t go to McDonald’s or Burger King, ever. I am probably the last human on earth that hasn’t had a Chik-Fil-A or whatever that place is called. If I did eat one, it was because someone brought them home, I’ve never been in their building as far as I can remember.
Anyway, I bring this up because the product I was served from the name brand random fast food place I pulled into as I drove north, was the worst, inedible, horrible garbage you could imagine having to ingest. You drive for hours, you get hungry, you just have to eat that stuff, there aren’t really any other options. (for the record it was not Chick Fil A.)
As a kid I’d eat fast food. I remember enjoying it. Either the quality of product and presentation has gone down the tubes, or my memory is fouled.
What they shoved out the window in a bag was inedible. Sell the fast food stocks, they can’t last serving that swill.

I’ve mentioned this in previous posts but after this recent tragedy of three men dead in Kansas City it bears repeating. We need some kind of action on fentanyl, and I mean national action, from the President’s desk action. Too many are dying from this poison.
In my early twenties I tended bar, I saw guys come in one day and within three, four years they were dead. Alcoholism, drug use, reckless living that led to car wrecks. One day they walked in fresh faced and normal. And after a few years of daily attendance and drinking and drugging; gone. One I recall, he ran a rather profitable and highly respected hair salon, had a city-wide great reputation, was making bank. In his early thirties, stylists all around him, single, we all thought he had it made. He got too deep into cocaine, and God knows what else, wasn’t long before we heard he burned himself up in a fire in a caretaker’s trailer on a suburban farm.
Oh I’ve seen the booze and drugs fell people. Up close and personal.
But even back then you could dabble, everyone did, at least every human that entered the bar where I worked, they all did drugs casually. But there is no such thing as “casual use” anymore. Because you don’t know how much of what you ingest is going to be your drug of choice, and how much of it is laced with fentanyl. First time users are as apt as heavy drug users to get a bad dose and……gone.
The people I saw in the 1970’s drink and drug themselves to death became hard core. They had issues with substance abuse, and it took them down.
Today anyone can be taken down. The first time user just as well as the person that needs someone to intervene.
China is flooding us with poison. And no one in charge seems to care. The only major figure I’ve heard speak out is Tucker Carlson.
Where is the “Tucker Carlson” in our government who could actually do something?

When did we get so many absolutely detestable people in this world, where did they all come from? Reading the “New York Post” this morning is a story on “squatters” who stayed rent-free in a home for four years, and when they were tossed out they did damage to the home, a nail through the sofa, damaging walls.
What kind of people are these?
What kind of people are out there beating the system for four years of no rent, and who take such great offense to being tossed out finally that they destroy property?
The horrible and awful things I want to happen to these people simply cannot be mentioned. This is human scum.
The same goes for some of our elected leaders. In the same “NYP” is an article on a family court judge who had to recuse herself because, get this one, she had reached out through a “swingers site” to have a tryst with one of the courtroom combatants in a custody fight in her courtroom.
How does someone with such questionable decision making abilities get to be a judge? What kind of standards do we have these days? A “swinger” judge? What does that say about her judgement?
I could add Fanni Willis to this mix, but you get the idea. Loathsome people appear to be all around us today. No judgement, no morals, no foundation of principles, and they seem to be legion, just everywhere.
When did we become a nation of degenerates?

Listen up, the real problem we have in America is at every turn the billionaires and elite have poured money into organizations whose sole job it is to keep and maintain the status quo. Their reach is just everywhere.
From fact checking organizations that aren’t really fact checking organizations, they are Leftist funded media groups whose job it is to promote the narrative as truth and to remove real truth that goes against the narrative from being published.
I just read where a study on whether these new “windmills” being placed into the ocean to provide wind powered electric, to study the effect on whales, who seem to be dying in numbers since they broke ground for the “windmills”, this study was funded in part by the energy companies themselves.
At every turn the system is corrupted. Every time.
We are told that “oh, a study was done, those whale deaths have nothing to do with the “windmills”. Only to learn that they back doored the study to ensure that it would come out favorable to the people building the “windmills”.
Money has flowed to the Left in numbers so big, so huge, and so corrupting that it can control the entire system. Think “Ukraine”, billions on top of billions flowing absent any forensic accounting about where it is flowing.
Then a portion of the funds come back into websites, media firms, to justify the flow of dollars to “Ukraine”. It all becomes a Leftist “circle of shit”.
You are going to get “windmills”, damn the whale full speed ahead. Can we really rely on “windmills” to power our future, absent fossil fuels? You are going to get “windmills”, damn the whale, full speed ahead.
At least the whale gets a quick death. We have to live with the consequences of the Left for years, and years to come. If we can survive their awful decisions.

Building a new stadium in Chicago is going to be interesting to watch from afar. As fun as watching “the big dig” in Boston a few years back. They built a tunnel in Boston, by the time they were finished building it the cost over-runs were into the billions. Billions and billions. A fully-run Democrat state, there are a lot of mouths to feed on a public project like that one.
Chicago, perhaps along with the entire state of Louisiana, has more Democrat corruption than any place in America. Whatever the estimate is to build this stadium, by the time they finish it, triple the amount. And as negotiations go for where to put the stadium, keep an eye on ownership transfer of the land under which the final selection is made. My bet is that as I type this ground is being bought up on the cheap by politicians and their handlers in the know, who will then sell the land at a hefty profit after all is said and done. Suddenly political donors around Chicago will get even richer than they are now, and some politicians will find themselves buying second homes in Florida. Or even bigger second homes.
The idea of a billion dollar project going up in Chicago must have local politicians foaming at the mouth. It must keep them up at night wondering the many ways they can grift on the project. The fact that the stadium was headed out-of-town to the suburbs and has boomeranged back to the Chicago waterfront is telling. Ohhh, no, we need to keep the grift local, can’t spread it to the suburbs. The actual owner of the team might make out a little too well on that option. We need to get into those pockets a bit.
Just watch. Start to watch. Watch the budget numbers for the project skyrocket.
Do we have any investigative reporters anymore? I’d love to see second home purchase information on every politician involved in this new stadium decision. And if there are any good investigative reporters I hope they understand LLC purchases, and other underhanded methods of obscuring actual ownership.
Those Chicago politicians are a shifty bunch.

Help me here, I am just trying to understand the world in which we currently live.
Some “migrants”, read illegal aliens, beat a cop in New York City, and then were released without bail. Where a few have already vacated town heading west for California by bus.
Did I get that correct?
If this makes any sense to you, I don’t want to live near you, with you, or have anything to do with you. If you advocate for the various failures inherent in this incident, you have lost your mind. From the fact the illegals shouldn’t be here, to the beating of a cop that requires consequence, to a system that allows them to walk on “no bail”, and then escape the state to avoid ever facing the consequences of any trial or outcome, this isn’t a society, it is bedlam masquerading as community.
What are sane and normal people living in these circumstances to do? I mean, they voted for the people supporting these ideas, they need to live with the consequences.
If the illegals will beat on cops, they’ll beat you for sure. Good luck with all that in NYC. Please stay there and deal with your voting results, do not, I repeat do not, flee to Florida. Stay there. Deal with it.

On a more positive note I found a series on Netflix, “Loudermilk” that actually feels as if it was written for adults. First time I’ve seen comedy in a long time where I actually laughed. Out loud, involuntarily, not some mere smirk or smile. Politically correct this is not. It’s from one of the “Kingpin” movie Farrelly Brothers and has a few very talented stand-up comedians as character actors. They do irreverent comedy well.
Just about everything you try to watch on the streaming services today appear to be made for twenty-somethings. Nothing seems to be made for old white men. They must not realize who is actually paying all the cell phone bills, and cable bills.
I got to episode four when the vacation house TV went on the fritz. I probably would have binged an entire season in a night. Since I am completely incapable of fixing anything with technology I’ll have to wait for the wife to make it go back on. But I do intend to finish a season, it has real promise.

One of my daughters that bothers reading says “Dad, it’s too much politics of late”. I had another screed tee’d up for today, railing about the Liberals as usual. But left it in the draft section and threw this together. First thing up I read the excellent reply to a column left by reader Joe Meakin who almost started me up again, he was so right-on in his anti-government comment. And it was so well written. I started to proof-read the screed. Then my daughter’s voice came into my head and I began to pen some random thoughts of the week. I calmed down. The coffee pot just beeped. God willing I’ll have tomorrow to tear Liberals a new one. Today, Joe Meakin did a great job for me.
Have a nice Sunday everyone.

I missed an apostrophe after generations' towards the end of my missive. Unforgivable, I know!
Enjoy your proofreading- and political-screed-writing-free day, Michael.
As an AZ native I’ve watched it turn from red to purple/blue. I used to want to post and put up signs saying STAY IN CA AND KEEP YOUR VOTING WITH YOU. Now with our open borders and democratic useless Gov Hobbs the illegals are handling that worry from CA. What a horrifying mess.
