I re-read this often. I don’t know why. It has only gotten worse. It is so spot on and though upsetting, it some how helps to hear that someone else is living in this world as it is.
In what world are those agencies for protecting Americans? This is the essential Boomer failure. The government is always ultimately “supposed to” be there to help and improve in their mental model. You ancestors didn’t believe that. When will this naïveté be shed?
What will it take? The FBI was founded to go after WW1 dissidents (who were correct, btw). There were the Palmer Raids, there was COINTELPRO, there was hiding JFK evidence, there was trying to get MLK Jr. to kill himself (and then probably seeing to it that it was done anyway), there was all the murder and burnings of citizens in the 90s, there was all that “Muslim terror” that they faked by providing the funding and equipment to lonely dudes who they were also grooming (which they’re doing with autistic white guys today, according many parents), and there was the J6 & Whitmer entrapments (where agents of the government committed most of the crimes and facilitated all of them).
I could really belabor this, but I won’t (I didn’t even mention the Franklin Scandal, which might be bigger than the rest). The FBI has always been an authoritarian threat to freedom, livelihoods, and dissent. Always.
