No One Asked, but...

So I’m in the grocery store and it’s a different store than the usual, and what do I see? A whole new level of “bacon”. I haven’t been buying bacon, the wife is on a health kick and from what I hear bacon isn’t the best thing for you to eat. So it’s been maybe eight months since I purchased bacon, but I was just gobsmacked to find regular bacon, thick cut bacon which I normally would purchase, and now there is extra thick cut bacon. Holy Hell, since when did they start making extra thick cut?

And here is the insanity. The “extra thick cut” is really just normal bacon from when I was a kid. About the thickness that regular bacon used to be in every package in the store back in 1965.

So now, to get “regular” bacon, the kind we always had as a normal kid growing up, you have to trade up three levels to buy what used to be normal.

Regular bacon has become so thin in those packages now that the strip completely disappears in the pan. You put in eleven slices, you finish cooking and have five. The rest is all “grease”. Buying what today is a “normal” package of bacon is a complete waste of the actual bacon cash.

The only way to get bacon, real bacon, normal bacon, is to buy this new extra thick cut bacon.

What is going on in this world? When did things go off the rails in bacon land?

Just when I got used to maple infused, applewood smoked, and a bunch of bullshit varieties we didn’t need, now I’ve got to contend with extra thick cut, just to get a normal, everyday, average, there is only one package in the cooler bacon from 1965.

Who was it ruined bacon, did “big bacon” ruin bacon, or was it all of you Gen Z or Gen X types who can’t eat bacon absent some wood smoked flavor, or horse shit additive? I didn’t think you were eating any bacon at all, you are all anorexic health freaks considering using Ozempic. Maybe it was those baby boomers who did it.

In 1965 you went to the cooler, there was “bacon”. And it was damn good. Now we have nine different flavors in three different thicknesses. An entire wall of cooler space to get bacon. And 95% of it is worthless compared to the single choice from 1965. Hey big bacon, get your shit together.

Listen up liberals. Your kids are growing up with a mind of their own, and too many are seeing reality and either voting Republican, or not voting at all. They go to public school, but are smart enough to gain entry into the gifted and talented programs. Tons of Asian kids in those programs, and they tend to skew conservative.

So of course Democrats, who need the populace stupid, compliant, and needy are doing away with all the gifted and talented programs. Got to keep the general population desperate and on the dole, so they keep the one big brother party in the US who will sign off on “more entitlements” in power.

Good luck with voting Democrat. They’ve decided to dumb down your kids to the extent they’ll have no chance at advancement in life. Just a life on the Democratic dole.

Democrats own kids go to exclusive private schools where they still have challenging programs and curriculum. Where they still cover rigorous material, and the students become proficient and learn. Then their kids all matriculate to Ivies.

Your kids can go to trade schools. Sure. That is your child’s “new future”. Yours.

Their kids will still vie for Harvard, Yale, and Stanford.

Your kid who didn’t have the chance at a gifted and talented curriculum can become an HVAC mechanic. And install a new system in Nancy Pelosi’s daughters house. She is fabulously wealthy and well connected. Your kid? No so much.

If so I’d love to help you settle that nagging question in your mind that you have when you peer across the cocktail table, see that odd look on his face, and think “I wonder what he is thinking”?

If your husband or boyfriend golfs the odds are they are sitting there thinking things like “I wonder if I strengthen my grip can I stop hitting the ball wide right”, or “maybe if I bend at the waist a little more and take the club back inside I can generate some added power.” They can’t help that dumb expression you see, they are lost in golf thought. Depending upon who holds all the power in the relationship, and what the power dynamic in your marriage might be, they could be thinking “exactly when am I going to tell her I agreed to a three PM tee time for this afternoon and get the chance to escape”, or they could be thinking “I really need some range time, how do I politely remove myself from this situation and get out and hit some balls”.

Or we might be thinking about Roman architecture, or those new developments with Lidar and how it is changing the way they are excavating Pompeii. that’s possible.

But if they are a golfer, odds are their mind is on such inanities as “should I replace the four iron with a hybrid in my bag”.

We really do live in a bubble here in the US, and we have some notion that what we do is the best, and the biggest, and that the world is three steps behind. When in reality there are a billion people plus that are nuts over the international cricket matches that we don’t even know are being played, and the biggest event in the known universe is the World Cup, which is an after thought at best for the average American.

We are one arrogant and self-centered nation.

I can’t tell anymore what with media lies and obfuscation. Is Biden slipping even more, or has the media decided they need to amplify his decline?

Is there some end game, some end gain, in sight for the other side, are they going to jettison the senile old fart once and for all, or was I just viewing right wing propaganda through Twitter a bit too much of late?

As a youngster back in the day I’d have conversations with the old people, you know, people around 62 and older, and to a person they wouldn’t change a thing, they’d never want to be born later so they could be younger like me, they all spoke of loving the years they lived, and didn’t mind that those years have passed, and that fewer were on the horizon. That I would outlive them. That didn’t bother them at all.

And now that I am well past 62 I get it. I wouldn’t trade being alive in the 1960’s and 1970’s for two more future decades ever.

I enjoyed the entire ride. Might have struggled the whole way, might have worried about money every damn waking minute. But wouldn’t trade those days for anything.

You get your time, and you do with it what you will.

I took the ride as best I could, and actually look at the kids and feel sorry for them.

You couldn’t explain life in the 1970’s to them if you tried. They’d never, ever understand.

Dear Senator Lindsey Graham,

I’ve probably seen you on television at least sixty times, always on those Sunday morning talking head shows talking about Israel. I’ve never actually heard you talk about your South Carolina constituents. Ever. Not once. There you are, very fey and sissified, very effeminate and fat faced. Looking like the kid that used to get beat up on the playground for being a mommy’s boy.

How about instead of spending another sixty billion on your beloved Israel you instead keep back six billion or so and use that money to increase the width of the major interstate I 95 going through your entire state North to South, a very important major artery of travel and commerce in the US. How about we have more than two lanes each way which clog up every time a truck has to pass another truck in the slow lane, or some idiot that rented a U-Haul and thinks they can drive in the fast lane which clogs up all traffic completely, and it take at least an extra hour just to get through your state because there are only two lanes as if it is still 1969.

How about you vote less money to Israel and more to improving life here in South Carolina for everyone who lives there, and everyone who has to drive through on I 95.

I just came through the entirety of I 95 going through South Carolina and that part of I 95 is just atrocious, in Florida they’ve widened things to three and even five lanes in some places.

Just think how great I 95 travel would be with six lanes each way. Why we could move into the twenty-first century with travel experiences like that.

Your home state is slipping into third world travel while you rail and rail and rail about Israel, Israel, Israel.

Never go to the grocery store hungry. Went late last night, couldn’t pass up the junk food to save my life. Every package of Tasty-Cakes and Rice Crispy Treats called out to me by name. “Hello, old friend, I’ll join you, we’ll love life together again”.

Got home, the wife walked into the kitchen, found me inhaling Swiss rolls and washing it down with a beer near Ten PM and gave me a look that would shame a normal individual. I said a normal person, I didn’t flinch, I swallowed the second Swiss roll in two bites. The diet will begin right after the last Rice Krispie treat disappears. I hope.

I sell product to retailers. There are worries that sales are slowing. Big ticket purchases are slowing. People shop, look, go away, come back, look again. It’s no longer “see and buy”.

God help us all if this economy slows down. Commercial Real Estate is threatening to take down big banks as it is. Slower sales means a slowing economy. A slowing economy means less jobs, more economic troubles.

The rich can’t hoard it all, doesn’t bode well for the overall health of the economy.

So there I am sitting on the porch and the wife comes out with a cup of coffee and sits down. I ask her, “wanna split an English muffin”?

On her big new kick of healthy eating she replies “Oh, God, bread in the morning turns to instant sugar in the body, no thanks”.

The level of propaganda on television about the food we eat, and processed food is just incredible.

For what, all of human existence, since we climbed out of the primordial ooze and learned how to use fire, and to grind wheat, some form of bread, Leven or unleavened has been a part of our diet. Fifteen thousand years of civilization as we know it today waking, baking breads, and eating some sustenance to allow us strength for chores. A hundred thousand years, who knows. Democrat Congressman Dan Goldman said his defense of the Hunter Biden laptop being “disinformation” was because Guiliani gave a copy of the hard drive to the NY Post, and therefore it could have been altered by Guiliani as it was a copy, and not the original, which is why he claimed the laptop information “wasn’t real”, and could be part of a “Russian disinformation” plot.

People who lie, shade, and shave the actual truth in this manner need to be removed from the levers of power as far from responsibility as possible.

People who will stand on a trumped up story they know to be false, and give false information so as to deny the truth are the most evil, awful, and horrible people we have amongst us, and although I wish we could just grind them into hamburger and we can’t, at least we don’t have to have them anywhere near our Congress.
